The Emperor's Nightingale
Bunraku and shadow puppets show.
Suitable for a young public.
The show takes its cue from the famous tale by Andersen. The text of the story, while completely rewritten in a comic and grotesque, maintains the structure of the original fairy tale with his characters and places: The Emperor of China, Leccapadelle, Leccapentole, The Nightingale, The Palace, the Wood, etc.. The main character of our story is not the Emperor but the Nightingale.
Starring comic, pathetic and grotesque caricature of himself. An emperor computer, an opportunist, a bit naive and a little crazy, but basically sick of a serious illness, greed.
He prefers to live in the Mechanical Nightingale, attracted by the music business because it sees in him the source of easy gains and substantial. In fact, the mechanical bird, playing the same melody repeatedly, tirelessly, but only with money, money clinking, many!
So the emperor banishes the nightingale from the castle alive. But as the saying goes 'money and wealth, are not sufficient to achieve happiness and the death drive'. Only the nightingale's song live, the song of the heart of nature, that nature that surrounds us but that we often do not appreciate, will have the power to cast the death looming on the emperor.
